Dubai Holidays

Dubai is a great place to go for a holiday, with everything you could possibly want for a holiday lasting anything from a weekend to a few months. It is a rich city and has many of the biggest, tallest or most expensive structures in the world.

Dubai does everything on a grand scale. The Burj Khalifa is by far the tallest building in the world at 828 metres and the Dubai Fountain is the largest dancing fountain. Both are sights not to be missed when you visit the city. Off-shore construction has created the biggest man-made islands on the planet. Designed and constructed in the shape of three palm trees these impressive islands are home to upscale shops, bars, hotels and marinas. The Dubai museum offers a fascinating insight into the growth of the city from a small pearl-fishing town into the metropolis that it is today. It has recreations of traditional houses and also incorporates some very high-tech displays describing the story of Dubai`s history.

For the more activity-minded holidaymaker, there are many sports to try out, from sand surfing to skiing. The beaches are pristine white sand with bathwater-warm seas. Although the wind can make it a little rough for swimming at times, this will suit wind surfers perfectly. Try sand surfing or a jeep ride across the dunes, or for something a bit different visit the camel racing or play sand golf. Standard golf is also readily available on heavily watered, beautiful courses. To see the origins of Dubai, take a boat trip up the Dubai creek and visit the original customs buildings from back when the city was a small port.

Dubai Holidays

When you visit Dubai you can stay in one of the opulent hotels, perhaps even the Burj al-Arab, which is the world`s first seven-star hotel. If you are staying a bit longer, prefer the freedom of your own schedule or want to save some money by cooking for yourself, then apartments in the city or a villa a little further out would suit you best. Air conditioning is a must, as the temperature is around 25 degrees centigrade in the winter months, which are between September and May. It can get up to above 50 degrees in the summer. This is basically a desert city, so choose carefully when you visit as the heat in summer makes outdoor activity almost impossible.

Dubai is truly a unique experience. Whether you are splashing out on a luxury hotel or prefer the independence of a private villa, you are sure to have a varied, fun-filled and inimitable holiday.
